Currently, as water pollution issues become increasingly serious, greater attention has been paid to wastewater treatment before discharge into the environment, especially the oil and grease filtration process. Given the rising demand for oil and grease filtration, traditional concrete grease traps have proven to be insufficiently durable and unable to filter quickly enough to meet the demand, while metal grease traps corrode too quickly and need frequent replacement. Therefore, the introduction of composite grease traps immediately became the focus of much attention from users.
What is a Composite grease separator?
Grease separator/grease separator/grease trap is a device that separates excess grease after preliminary processing and cleaning before being discharged into the pipeline to ensure that the public or household exhaust system is not clogged.
In the past, people often used reinforced concrete tanks to separate oil and grease, in the long run The tank gradually becomes less efficient and loses its aesthetic appeal (which was already almost non-existent). Or stainless steel grease traps are susceptible to rust over time, and their heat resistance is not good. Today, in order to improve the aesthetics and functional flexibility of grease traps, manufacturers have launched Composite grease traps (FRP) with a focus on efficiency coupled with with savings for customers.
Structure and operating principle of the grease separator
In general, grease separators have three compartments:
– Compartment 1: has a trash filter, has a handle to put trash, soil and rocks and remove the primary oil layer with an oil separator:
- Compartment 2: This is the main compartment containing grease and oil that is collected every 1 to 2 weeks.
– Compartment 3: drains water after treatment into the environment.
Regarding the tank's operating process:
– Wastewater containing grease flows directly into the grease separator tank, after passing through the garbage separator placed in the first compartment. Here, waste and debris are retained, and oil is removed using an oil separator
– Continue, water from compartment 1 will flow to compartment 2, the retention time is long enough to allow the oil to float to the surface of the water. After the oil and grease are completely removed, the water is transferred to the third compartment and discharged
- The recovered oil and grease in the second compartment also contains a small amount of water, which continues to be separated by another compartment and then discharged into the environment.
Advantages of Composite grease separators
- High durability, can operate for more than 50 years
- Effective filtering ability, water leaving the tank meets safety standards
- Composite plastic has good corrosion resistance, resistance to hot water, acids,...
- Light weight, simple design helps save moving, installation and maintenance costs.
- Withstands many different environments: underground, above ground, in wet places, near the sea.
